The college extends a warm welcome to:-

Jae Fowler

Jae joined the College at the end of September as Graduation Officer, responsible for organising the five Graduation Ceremonies a year which take place in Canterbury Cathedral.

Before CCCUC, Jae spent two and a half years working for Dover District Council, first as Economic Development Assistant and later as Millenium Project Officer. Jae organised two major community Mardi Gras-style events over the Millenium New Year, "Millenium Clocks" and "Carnival of the Planets", administered a £145,000 community awards scheme; and, managed the District's Try Angle Youth Awards Scheme and Gala Awards Ceremony in association with Kent County Council.

Since graduating from the University of Warwick three years ago and returning to her home town of Canterbury, Jae has also been Duty Manager for "The Canterbury Tales" Visitor Attraction in the city.

Outside of work, Jae is enjoying studying for an 'A' Level in Psychology and singing with CCCUC's Choir. Jae is also a member of Canterbury-based Playcraft Theatre Company.

Jae is very happy to have received such a warm welcome on joining CCCUC and looks forward to working with both staff and students on CCCUC's prestigious Graduation Ceremonies. Jae can be contacted on extension 2525 or by email at jlf5

Reza Mousoli

I joined the College in September as a member of staff in Maths and Computing Department. I must emphasize I have been very impressed by the organisation, in particular the induction programme. I am pleased to be in such a wonderful environment.

Last year I worked in the Middle East for the Higher Colleges of Technology in Dubai and Sharjah, apart from the temperatures of around 45 degrees centigrade, it was a very "cool" place, especially Dubai! Previously I worked at South Kent College for 5 years as a team leader, and before that I was at South East London College of Technology, Texas Instruments and GEC Hirst Research Centre. I first came to Christ Church College in 1984 to study PGCE in Science and later in 1997 to complete my Cert-Ed.

I came to Kent in 1978 from Iran to study a short course at the School of English Studies but it turned out to be that I was destined to be a "Man of Kent" or a "Kentish Man"!.

I am married with three children, Sam (14), Oliver (12) and Shahla (8), we live in River near Dover.

I enjoy cooking, politics, current affairs and sports.

I will be teaching in the IT Department, my room is Lg73, next to AV Services on extension 2715

Louise O'Sullivan

Hello, my name is Louise O'Sullivan. I joined the college in September to work in the Childhood Studies and Primary Education Department. I am working with the Maths team and also on the GSPS course with Year 1 students. I will also work as a link tutor observing students in school.

After completing my BA(Ed) here I have, for the last eight years, worked in a local Partnership primary school as, amongst other things, a student mentor. Last year I worked as a visiting tutor for the maths team.

I live in Sittingbourne with my husband and 14 year old daughter.

I am looking forward to working with students in college as I have really enjoyed this aspect of my work in my previous job.

For the past two years, I worked in Student Services as Thanet College's Careers Advisor, dealing with employment, UCAS applications and mature students wanting to restart their education and training.

I can be contacted by e-mail on lol12 or by phone on extension 2305.

Sally-Ann Burnett

joined the College in July as Director of the Centre for Enterprise and Business Development. She joins us from Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) where she was Principal Lecturer with responsibility for commercial activities in the Hollings Faculty of Food, Clothing and Hospitality Management. At MMU she was successful in securing and managing several European funded projects as well as co-ordinating the generation of significant private sector income through consultancy and short course activities.

Prior to her position at MMU she was Product Assessment Manager at the Co-Operative Wholesale Society's Technical Centre in Manchester where she managed the team responsible for own label product selection and quality assurance.

Sally-Ann is based at the Mount but also has an office on the main campus so that she is able to continue to develop effective links with appropriate teaching departments.

On taking up the CEBD's Director role Sally-Ann acknowledges that she is fortunate in many respects, due to the impressive track record of the centre to date. She will endeavour to perpetuate the activities for which the CEBD has become well respected whilst broadening the areas of work to engage more fully with the College's main stream activities.

"There are huge opportunities for the CEBD in the current academic, social and political context. I aim to direct the Centre such that it builds on its already strong foundation whilst broadening its focus to include other means of securing income such that the College is ultimately less reliant on sources of public funding."

You can telephone Sally-Ann on 2651 or e-mail her at sb62

Julie Page

who has recently joined the Education Department.

Julie returned to the UK from East Africa last year (Kenya and Uganda) having worked there for 14 years, firstly with the FCO and then on development projects for DfiD.

Julie is married with an 8 year old daughter and has settled in Faversham ...although the wilds of Africa still call!

Julie's interests are Yoga (qualified teacher), wildlife, natural history and photgraphy. Julie is on extension 2720, her email is jep10
