If you are a student resident in Lanfranc, Thorne, Fynden, Lang, Temple or Davis Hall, you can have your PC set up to connect to the college network, by contacting the Help Desk.  This service is available to students whose machines run Windows 3.1, 95, 97, 98 or 2000, or NT operating systems.  It is currently not available to Mac users.  You will need to have the operating system disks for your machine, in order that we can do the setting up.

To take advantage of this scheme, please contact the Help Desk where you will be given a form to complete.  When we have scheduled you in, you will be emailed and asked to bring your system disks and drive unit only (not monitor or keyboard etc) in to the Help Desk.  It will be ready for collection within seven days.  You will then be able to access the college network from your study-bedroom.

There is a line rental charge of £2.00 per week, which will be added to your accommodation bill.

Laptop users: we are currently unable to install network cards in laptops; if you wish to have a network connection to a laptop, you must have either a LAN (network) card or Combi card (both modem and network) installed in your laptop by an outside company, before you bring it in for setting up.  A modem card only is not suitable for this network.
